Unlike photojournalism, which often focuses on immediate events and breaking news, documentary photography typically has a broader scope and a more deliberate pace. It seeks to explore complex social issues, cultural practices, and the human condition, often with the intention of fostering understanding and sparking dialogue. Documentary photographers may work independently or be commissioned by organizations and publications.
