Djanet

Djanet is a town and commune in Illizi Province, southern Algeria. It is the administrative center of Djanet District and the seat of the Djanet Commune. The town lies in the central Sahara on the edge of the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau, near the borders with Niger and Libya. The area has a desert climate with very hot summers, mild winters, and limited rainfall. Djanet is an oasis town organized around date palm groves and serves as a hub for pastoralism, small-scale trade, and, increasingly, tourism.
