Diszintermediációt, in English disintermediation, refers to the process of removing intermediaries in a supply chain, transaction, or business process. This often involves connecting producers or suppliers directly with consumers or end-users, bypassing traditional middlemen such as distributors, wholesalers, retailers, or brokers. The core idea is to streamline operations, reduce costs, and potentially improve efficiency by cutting out layers that add expense without proportionally increasing value.

Technological advancements, particularly the internet and digital platforms, have significantly facilitated disintermediation. E-commerce websites, for instance, allow manufacturers to sell directly to consumers, while online marketplaces enable service providers to connect with clients without relying on traditional agencies. This direct connection can offer benefits like lower prices for consumers due to reduced overheads, and higher profit margins for producers. It also allows for more direct customer feedback and tailored offerings.

However, disintermediation is not without its challenges. Traditional intermediaries often provide essential services like marketing, logistics, customer support, and market access.
