Displaytekniikkaa refers to the various technologies used to create visual displays. These technologies encompass a wide range of methods for generating and presenting images to users. The primary goal of display technology is to translate electronic signals into visible light patterns that form images or text.

Common types of display technology include Cathode Ray Tube (CRT), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Light Emitting Diode (LED), Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), and Plasma displays. CRT technology, once dominant, uses an electron beam to excite phosphors on a screen. LCDs modulate light passing through liquid crystals to create images, often requiring a separate backlight. LEDs, while often used as backlights for LCDs, can also be used as individual pixels in large video walls or smaller displays. OLED technology allows each pixel to emit its own light, resulting in superior contrast and color reproduction. Plasma displays use small cells filled with ionized gas to produce light.

Advancements in displaytekniikkaa focus on improving resolution, color accuracy, brightness, contrast ratio, refresh rates, and energy efficiency. Emerging technologies are exploring flexible displays, holographic projections, and even direct neural interfaces for visual output.
