Diskutationen

Etymology and variants: Diskutation originates from Latin disputatio and entered German via older forms such as Diskussion or Discus­sation. The plural form Diskutationen appears primarily in older literature and is often found alongside Diskutationen or Diskutationen als Bezeichnung for a specific kind of argumentative exercise. In contemporary usage, Diskussion is the standard term for a general discussion, while Disputation or disputation is the more common label for formal, public defenses of theses.
