Directrixetäisyys
Directrixetäisyys, or *directrix distance* in English, is a geometric concept primarily associated with conic sections, particularly parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas. In the context of a parabola, the directrix is a fixed line perpendicular to the axis of symmetry, and the directrixetäisyys refers to the perpendicular distance from any point on the parabola to this line. This distance is equal to the distance from that point to the parabola’s focus, a defining property of a parabola.
For a standard parabola defined by the equation *y² = 4ax*, the directrix is the vertical line *x
In ellipses and hyperbolas, the term is less commonly used, but the concept of a directrix still
The directrixetäisyys plays a crucial role in defining the shape and properties of conic sections, influencing
