Diraihnya

Diraihnya is a verbal form in Indonesian grammar derived from the verb raih, meaning to achieve or to obtain. It is formed with the passive prefix di- attached to the root raih, and a clitic -nya that marks the agent or referent who performs the action. The result is a past passive construction in which the focus is often on the achievement itself rather than on the agent, though the agent can be understood from context or explicitly indicated with a phrase such as olehnya.

In usage, diraihnya commonly appears in formal writing, journalism, and literary prose. It conveys that a particular achievement has been realized by someone. For example, in the sentence Kemenangan itu diraihnya, the translation is “That victory was achieved by him.” The form contrasts with active raih plus a subject (ia meraih kemenangan itu) and with the full passive diraih oleh dia, which explicitly names the agent.

Grammatical notes emphasize that diraihnya is a passive participle form used with the enclitic -nya to reference the agent without an overt oleh phrase. The same idea can be expressed more explicitly as kemenangan itu diraih olehnya, if desired. Thus, diraihnya functions as a stylistic variant within Indonesian’s system of di- passive constructions.
