Dipdyeing
Dipdyeing is a textile dyeing technique in which a fabric or garment is partially submerged in a bath of dye, producing a defined color on the submerged portion and a contrasting edge above the liquid level. The resulting effect is a gradient or band of color, often referred to as an ombré, though the boundary can be sharp or diffuse depending on dipping duration, fabric mobility, and dye properties.
Process: The material is prepared for dyeing (cleaned and, if required by the fiber, mordanted or pretreatment).
Fiber type and dye class determine the best approach. Natural fibers such as cotton, silk, and wool
Applications include fashion garments, scarves, and home textiles, where a subdued gradient or bold banding is
Care considerations include potential color transfer to lighter fabrics, especially on first washes. Follow dye manufacturer
