Differentialtekniker is a technician who specializes in service, repair, and calibration of automotive and industrial gear differentials and related driveline components such as gears, bearings, seals, and lubricants. The role is common in automotive workshops, gearbox shops, manufacturing plants, and racing teams.

Typical duties include diagnosing faults through inspection, noise and vibration analysis, and diagnostic tools; performing preventive maintenance such as differential oil changes; replacing worn gears, bearings, and seals; adjusting backlash and pinion depth; installing or servicing limited-slip or locking differentials; and testing systems after service. Education typically requires vocational training or an apprenticeship in automotive technology, with a specialty in transmissions or differentials; country-specific certifications may be required. Experienced technicians can advance to senior technician, supervisor, or drivetrain engineer roles.
