Dickichten
Dickichten is a term used in German to describe dense thickets or dense stands of trees. It refers to an area where trees are growing very closely together, often making it difficult to pass through. This can occur naturally in forests, particularly in areas with rich soil and ample sunlight that encourage rapid growth. Human activity can also lead to dickichten, such as in abandoned orchards or areas where coppicing has been practiced extensively. The density of a dickicht can vary significantly, from a moderately overgrown area to an almost impenetrable mass of vegetation. Such areas can provide important habitats for certain types of wildlife due to the shelter and food sources they offer. In some contexts, the term can also be used metaphorically to describe a complicated or confusing situation.
