Diagrammokkal
Diagrammokkal is a term that historically appears in the corpus of Indian technical literature, particularly within the field of architectural and engineering diagrammatics. The word is derived from the Tamil roots “diagrama” (Greek for diagram) and “mokkal,” meaning group or set, reflecting its original purpose as a method of categorizing and presenting complex sets of data in visual form. Early surviving references date from the late eighteenth century, where diagrammokkal was employed by the Madras Civil Engineers to compile and display hydraulic engineer calculations for irrigation projects.
In the twentieth century, the use of diagrammokkal expanded beyond civil engineering. Educators in the Southern
Diagrammokkal also features in contemporary discussions of user interface design, particularly in the region’s emerging design
