Dewey is a surname and given name. Notable uses include John Dewey and the Dewey Decimal Classification.

John Dewey (1859–1952) was an American philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer. A leading figure in pragmatism and in progressive education, he advocated experiential learning, reflective inquiry, and democratic participation in schooling, influencing educational theory and public policy.

Melvil Dewey (1851–1931) was an American librarian and educator who created the Dewey Decimal Classification in 1876. The DDC organizes library materials by subject into ten main classes, each with numbered subdivisions, and is widely adopted in libraries worldwide.
