Demodulaattoreina, known in English as demodulators, are electronic circuits or devices that perform the reverse operation of a modulator. In telecommunications, a modulator combines an information-bearing signal with a carrier wave, a process called modulation. The demodulator, therefore, extracts the original information signal from the modulated carrier wave. This process is fundamental to receiving and interpreting transmitted data.

Demodulation is essential for converting the received radio frequency signal back into a usable form, such as audio, video, or digital data. Different modulation techniques, like amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and phase modulation (PM), each require a specific type of demodulator to recover the original signal. For example, an AM demodulator typically uses a diode to rectify the signal and a capacitor to smooth out the rectified waveform, thereby extracting the amplitude variations that represent the information. An FM demodulator, on the other hand, detects changes in the frequency of the carrier wave.

In digital communication systems, demodulation is equally crucial. Digital modulation schemes, such as phase-shift keying (PSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), encode digital bits into variations of the carrier wave's properties. The demodulator's task is to decode these variations and reconstruct the original stream of binary data. The efficiency and accuracy of the demodulator directly impact the reliability of the communication link. Modern demodulators are often implemented in software or as integrated circuits, enabling complex signal processing and adaptation to changing channel conditions.
