Deltafourtocotrienol

Deltafourtocotrienol is a naturally occurring compound belonging to the tocotrienol family, which are structurally related to tocopherols, commonly known as Vitamin E. Specifically, it is one of the four major isomers of tocotrienols, alongside alpha-, beta-, and gamma-tocotrienol. These compounds are found in various plant-based sources, including rice bran, palm oil, and barley. Deltafourtocotrienol differs from its alpha-tocotrienol counterpart by the position of the methyl group on its chromanol ring.

Research into deltafourtocotrienol has explored its potential biological activities. Like other tocotrienols, it possesses antioxidant properties, meaning it can help neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. Studies have also investigated its effects on cholesterol metabolism, with some suggesting it may play a role in regulating lipid levels.
