Transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area require an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or binding corporate rules. Enforcement is carried out by supervisory authorities, which can issue warnings, impose fines or orders, and provide guidance to ensure compliance.
