Dammhalters

Dammhalters, also known as dam halters or dam chains, are traditional horse tack components used primarily in driving horses. The term "dammhalter" originates from the German word *Dammhalter*, which translates to "dam holder," though they are used with both male and female horses.

A dammhalter consists of a padded strap or chain that wraps around the horse’s neck and connects to the harness or traces.
