DVJ1000

DVJ1000 is a professional video DJ hardware system produced by Pioneer Corporation (later marketed under Pioneer DJ). Introduced in the mid-2000s, it combines two independent video playback decks with a built-in 2-channel video mixer in a single standalone unit. The device is designed for live performances, enabling DJs to cue, mix, and manipulate video content in real time to accompany audio tracks.

The DVJ1000 accepts media such as DVD-Video discs, Video CDs, and audio CDs, and provides outputs suitable for connecting to external displays or projectors. It features dual jog wheels or jog-like controls for scrubbing through video, a crossfader and channel faders for mixing, and tempo or pitch controls to align video timing with audio. A suite of real-time effects can be applied to video, allowing transitions and visual embellishments during sets. The system is intended to operate alongside conventional audio equipment, providing synchronized visual mixing to complement the music.

Impact and legacy: The DVJ1000 was one of the first commercially available standalone systems that integrated dual video playback with a DJ-style mixer, helping to establish video as a performable element in club and live settings.
