DNAnäytettä is a Finnish term that translates to "DNA sample" in English. It refers to any biological material that contains Deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the molecule that carries the genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of all known organisms. DNA samples are used in a wide variety of fields, including forensic science, medical diagnostics, paternity testing, and genetic research.

In forensic science, DNA samples are collected from crime scenes, such as bloodstains, hair follicles, or saliva, to identify or exclude suspects. This process relies on the unique genetic profile of each individual, with the exception of identical twins.
