Cézannes
Cézannes refers to a group of individuals who are deeply influenced by or emulate the artistic style and philosophy of Paul Cézanne, the renowned French Post-Impressionist painter. While not a formal art movement with a manifesto, the term often describes artists who adopted Cézanne's innovative approach to form, perspective, and color. Cézanne sought to represent nature by means of the cylinder, the sphere, and the cone, breaking down objects into their geometric fundamentals. This method had a profound impact on subsequent art movements, particularly Cubism. Artists associated with or influenced by Cézanne often share an interest in exploring the underlying structure of their subjects, using geometric simplification, and employing a systematic, often methodical, application of paint to convey volume and spatial relationships. Their work typically moves away from purely representational depiction towards a more analytical and constructive interpretation of reality. Cézanne's legacy is primarily seen in his ability to bridge the gap between traditional representation and the abstract explorations that would define much of 20th-century art.
