Cryptotermes
Cryptotermes is a genus of termites commonly known as powderpost termites. These insects are subterranean in their life cycle but forage for wood above ground. They are distinguished by their pale, soft bodies and their habit of excavating galleries within wood, leaving behind characteristic piles of fecal pellets, often referred to as "frass." This frass is granular and resembles fine sawdust or sand.
Powderpost termites are found worldwide, with several species considered significant pests of wooden structures and furniture.
The lifecycle of Cryptotermes involves a queen, king, workers, and soldiers. Workers are responsible for foraging
