Cruze

Cruze is primarily known as a compact car marketed by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. It was introduced in 2008 as a global model designed to replace older GM compact offerings and to compete in multiple markets with a modern, efficient sedan or hatchback.

The first generation, commonly referred to as the J300, was built on GM's Delta II platform and offered in several markets as a four-door sedan and, in some regions, a five-door hatchback. Engine options varied by market and included gasoline engines such as a 1.4-liter turbo and a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated unit, with diesel variants available in European countries. The Cruze emphasized a balance of interior space, comfort, and fuel efficiency for its class.

The second generation, launched around 2016 for the 2017 model year, used an updated platform and featured revised styling, improved safety equipment, and more modern infotainment options. It continued to be sold in multiple regions as a sedan and, depending on the market, a hatchback, with a range of gasoline engines and, in some markets, diesel options.

Production of the Cruze was scaled back and ended in many markets during the late 2010s as GM restructured its lineup toward SUVs and crossovers. Availability and timing varied by country, with North American production concluding in 2019.

Beyond the Chevrolet model, the word Cruze may be used as a surname or place name in various cultures and can appear in contexts unrelated to the GM vehicle.
