Crossslipvõimalus, often shortened to crossslip, refers to a phenomenon in material science and solid mechanics where a dislocation moves from one slip plane to another intersecting slip plane within a crystal lattice. This process is crucial for understanding the plastic deformation of crystalline materials, particularly metals.

Dislocations are linear defects in the crystal structure that allow for plastic deformation to occur at much lower stresses than would be required to break all atomic bonds simultaneously. When a dislocation encounters an intersection with another slip plane, it has the possibility of transferring its movement to that new plane.
