Cookedness

Cookedness refers to the state of food after it has undergone heating, a process known as cooking. It signifies the degree to which heat has been applied to transform raw ingredients into a palatable and often more digestible form. The concept of cookedness is subjective and varies widely depending on the type of food, the cooking method employed, and individual preferences. For example, a steak can range from rare, where the interior is barely warmed, to well-done, where it is cooked through to the center. Similarly, vegetables can be cooked to be crisp-tender or soft and mushy, each representing a different level of cookedness.

The extent of cookedness impacts not only the texture and flavor of food but also its nutritional content and safety.
