It encompasses the study of conversational dynamics—such as turn-taking, topic management, repair strategies, and politeness patterns—as well as the design of interfaces and algorithms intended to support natural, fluid exchanges between people and machines.

The term appears to be a neologism formed from "conversation" with the suffix "-a," signaling a field, method, or system. It is not widely standardized and has appeared primarily in exploratory or experimental writings, prototype tooling, and some interdisciplinary discussions about how to model real-world talk in software.
