Contratture
Contratture, often referred to as muscle cramps or spasms, are involuntary and sustained contractions of muscle fibers. These contractions can range from a mild, uncomfortable tightening to a severe, painful state that can significantly limit movement. The exact cause of contratture is not always clear, but several factors are commonly associated with their occurrence. These include dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, muscle fatigue from strenuous exercise, prolonged static postures, and sometimes certain medical conditions or medications.
The symptoms of a contrattura typically involve a sudden onset of sharp pain and a palpable hardening
Treatment for acute contratture often involves gentle stretching of the affected muscle, massage, and applying heat
