Conalláin
Conalláin, also spelled Conallán or Conallán mac Cóemáin, was a High King of Ireland from the Uí Néill dynasty. He ruled during the 6th century, specifically from 565 to 572 AD. Conalláin's reign was marked by significant political and military events, including the Battle of Mag Rath, where he defeated the forces of the southern Ui Fiachrach Aidhne. This victory solidified his position as a dominant figure in the political landscape of early medieval Ireland. His reign also saw the expansion of the Uí Néill's influence, particularly in the northern provinces. Conalláin's reign ended in 572, and he was succeeded by his son, Áed Sláine. Despite his relatively short reign, Conalláin's legacy includes his military successes and the strengthening of the Uí Néill's power base. His reign is a notable period in the history of the Uí Néill and the broader political history of Ireland.
