Competitiiile (the Romanian definite plural of competiție) denotes organized events in which individuals or teams contend to achieve the best result according to predefined criteria. The term is used across fields to describe formal contests that reward excellence and measure performance.

Competitions occur in sports, academics, arts, culture, and industry. Sports competitions include tournaments, leagues, and championships; academic competitions include math or science olympiads; arts and culture competitions include music, theatre, and film festivals with competitive sections; technology and business events include hackathons and startup contests. Competitions can be local, national, or international and may award prizes, scholarships, or recognition.

Formats and rules vary. Common formats include single-elimination or double-elimination tournaments, round-robin leagues, or score-based meets.
