Colorimprovement is a term used to describe techniques and processes aimed at enhancing the accuracy and perceived quality of color in digital images, video, and printed media. It encompasses color correction, color grading, and color management, with the goal of consistent, faithful color reproduction across viewing or printing devices.

Core methods include color management systems and ICC profiles, color space conversions (such as sRGB, Adobe RGB, and DCI-P3), white balance, gamma correction, exposure adjustments, and gamut mapping. These tools address differences in device gamuts and nonlinear display response, seeking to minimize color casts and improve tonal relationships.

In practice, colorimprovement may blend objective accuracy with artistic grading to suit context.

Evaluation relies on both objective metrics and subjective inspection. Color difference formulas such as Delta E and perceptual color spaces quantify deviations, while calibrated instruments and test targets support reproducibility. Visual assessment under standardized lighting remains common.

Challenges include device variability, environmental lighting, and the limits of display gamuts. Overcorrection can cause oversaturation or loss of detail, and maintaining consistency across a workflow often requires careful calibration and profile management.
