CoRESTmediated refers to biological processes regulated or influenced by CoREST, a corepressor protein that plays a crucial role in epigenetic gene silencing. CoREST is a component of the corepressor-with-RBP-associated-factors (Co-RRF) complex, which interacts with the RE1-silencing transcription factor (REST) to repress the transcription of a specific set of genes. These target genes are often involved in neuronal development and function, as well as other cellular processes.

The mechanism of CoREST-mediated gene silencing involves the recruitment of histone deacetylases (HDACs) by the CoREST/REST complex.
