CoKulturen
CoKulturen, or co-cultures, are experimental systems in which two or more distinct cell types, microbial species, or tissue components are grown together in the same environment or in connected but separated compartments. The goal is to study interactions such as signaling, metabolic exchange, competition, and cooperation that cannot be observed in monocultures.
In microbiology and ecology, co-cultures enable the examination of symbiotic relationships, cross-feeding, antagonism, and community dynamics.
Common methods include direct co-culture, where cell types share the same medium and space; indirect co-culture
Challenges include maintaining appropriate cell ratios and media compatibility, controlling environmental conditions, and interpreting results given
