Cleistothecium
Cleistothecium is a type of fruiting body (ascoma) produced by certain ascomycete fungi. It is completely enclosed, typically globose to irregular in shape, and bounded by a multilayered wall called the peridium. There is no external opening to the interior; asci containing ascospores develop inside the structure and spores are released only when the cleistothecium ages, ruptures, or decays.
