Clearinghus

Clearinghus is a town and municipality in the fictional country of Eldoria, located in the Northvale region. The settlement sits along the Clearing River, at the edge of mixed woodland and agricultural plains. As of 2023 the municipality has about 11,800 residents. The name Clearinghus combines elements meaning "clearing" and "house," reflecting its historical function as a sheltered place at the edge of cleared land.

Originally founded as a farming settlement in the medieval period, Clearinghus grew through the timber trade and the development of local crafts. In the 19th century the arrival of regional rail and road improvements spurred growth, and the town gained administrative autonomy in the early 20th century. The late 20th century brought modernization in services and infrastructure, while preserving much of the rural character.

Geography and economy: Clearinghus lies in a transitional zone between upland forests and lowland fields. The economy centers on agriculture, especially root crops and cereals, timber and small-scale manufacturing, with a growing service sector and tourism tied to countryside recreation and historic sites. The river supports old mills and small hydro facilities.
