Chronica
Chronica is a term used in historiography and literature to denote a chronicle or a work that records events in time. It is primarily a Latin word (chronica, from chronikon) and has been adopted in various languages to title or describe chronological narratives. In medieval and early modern Europe, chronicles were among the common means of preserving local, regional, and national history. Many such texts were written by clerics, monks, or scholars and organized year by year or by topic, sometimes under the generic title Chronica or Chronicon. Because Chronica functions as a descriptor rather than a single work, there is no single authoritative Chronica; instead, the term refers to multiple, separate writings across different regions and periods.
