Chilehaus
The Chilehaus is an office building located in the Kontorhaus district of Hamburg, Germany. It was designed by architect Fritz Höger and completed in 1925. The building is a prominent example of Brick Expressionism, a style characterized by its use of brick as the primary building material and its dramatic, sculptural forms. The Chilehaus is famous for its distinctive ship-like prow, which juts out over Fischertwiete street, creating a striking visual effect. Its name is derived from the fact that its owner, Henry Brarens Sloman, made his fortune in the nitrate trade with Chile.
