Checkrides
A checkride is a formal aviation practical test used to certify a pilot or to add a new rating to an existing certificate. It is a key step in obtaining or upgrading pilot credentials, including private, instrument, commercial, helicopter, rotorcraft, glider, and other certificates or ratings. The term is most commonly used in the United States, but similar examinations exist in other jurisdictions.
In the United States, checkrides are conducted by a designated pilot examiner (DPE) or an FAA inspector.
