Charterflyg

Charterflyg, or charter aviation, refers to the operation of an aircraft under a charter contract rather than as part of a published airline timetable. In practice, charter flights are typically arranged by tour operators, travel agencies, corporations, or private groups to fly to specific destinations on a chosen date. They can be passenger flights or cargo operations, and may involve an entire aircraft or just a portion of its capacity.

Operations and business models commonly fall into two categories. In a full-charter arrangement, an operator rents an entire aircraft for a period or for a series of flights. In an ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) or wet-lease arrangement, the aircraft is leased with crew and support, while the charter customer markets and sells the seats. Seat inventory is often bundled into holiday packages or corporate itineraries, and schedules are tailored to the client rather than a public timetable.

Fleet and destinations vary, but charter operations often use narrow-body jets such as the Airbus A320 family or Boeing 737, and may employ wide-body aircraft for longer routes or high-demand seasons. Markets typically focus on leisure destinations, event travel, or special missions, with flights arranged to meet demand rather than to maintain regular route networks.

Regulation and safety follow standard aviation rules. Chartered operations are overseen by national and international authorities, with requirements for licensing, airworthiness, crew qualifications, and insurance. The sector complements scheduled airlines by providing flexible capacity for peak seasons, group travel, or niche missions.
