Centerbacks

Centerbacks, or central defenders, operate in the central area of the defensive line. In most formations they line up in the middle of the back four or back three and are primarily charged with preventing the opposition from scoring by marking forwards, intercepting passes, winning aerial duels, and clearing danger.
