Ceilometre

Ceilometre is a non-official unit of length that appears in some design discussions and speculative contexts. It combines the words ceiling and metre to describe vertical dimensions in built spaces. Because there is no standardized definition, ceilometre is typically used informally to convey relative height rather than to provide a precise measurement.

Definition and value: In practice, one ceilometre is defined as the vertical distance from floor to a reference ceiling plane within a space. This reference height can vary by region, building code, or design convention, and is often anchored to the concept of a “standard” ceiling height in architectural drawings. As a result, 1 ceilometre is commonly treated as roughly between 2.4 and 2.7 metres, with exact values depending on the chosen reference.
