Cartosat2

Cartosat-2 is an Indian Remote Sensing satellite, part of the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Cartosat series. It is a national asset designed for high-resolution panchromatic and multispectral imagery. The primary objective of the Cartosat-2 mission is to provide Earth observation data for various applications, including urban planning, infrastructure development, rural development, and disaster management.

The satellite features an advanced panchromatic camera capable of capturing images with a spatial resolution of less than one meter. This high resolution allows for detailed mapping and monitoring of terrestrial features. It also carries a multispectral camera that captures data in different spectral bands, enabling the analysis of land cover and vegetation health. The data acquired by Cartosat-2 is crucial for creating detailed maps, updating cadastral information, and assessing the impact of natural disasters like floods, cyclones, and earthquakes.

Launched in January 2007, Cartosat-2 has undergone several upgrades and follow-on missions in the series, such as Cartosat-2A, Cartosat-2B, Cartosat-2C, Cartosat-2D, Cartosat-2E, and Cartosat-2F. These successive satellites have continuously enhanced ISRO's capabilities in high-resolution Earth observation, contributing significantly to India's strategic and developmental needs. The data is utilized by government agencies, research institutions, and commercial entities for a wide range of applications.
