Canoninen

Canoninen is a term that is commonly used in discussions about standard forms, authoritative collections, or official status, but in Finnish the standard adjective is kanoninen. The form canoninen may appear in texts influenced by English or as a mistaken spelling. In Finnish discourse, kanoninen describes something that belongs to a recognized canon, or that conforms to a conventional, authoritative arrangement.

In religion and literature, kanoniset/kanoninen texts are those that are accepted as part of an official canon. A religious canon consists of scriptures deemed authoritative by a tradition, while in literature the "canon" refers to a body of works regarded as representative or foundational for a culture or period. In mathematics and computer science, the term canon or canonical form refers to a standard or normal form used to simplify comparison and computation.
