Canhillsmall

Canhillsmall is a locality in the Shoalhaven Council area of New South Wales, Australia. It is a small settlement situated approximately 2.5 kilometers east of the town of Milton. The exact date of establishment is unclear, but it is believed to have developed as a rural settlement in the late 19th century.

The locality is nestled in the Bradbury Pass region of the Illawarra Plateau, offering scenic views and easy access to surrounding rolling hills and escarpments. Canhillsmall provides a more rural and peaceful alternative to the nearby town of Milton.

Limited information is readily available regarding the history and demographics of the settlement. It is believed to have been named after the nearby Mountain Ash forest, the dominant tree species in the area. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this claim.

Geological surveys have identified the region's geology as predominantly part of the Harry Campbell Private Valley formation. Canhillsmall falls within the Gerringong-Mollong example geology area, recognized for its transition from deeply consolidated to poorly consolidated sediments.
