Campbell

Campbell is a surname of Scottish origin, derived from the Gaelic Caimbeul, meaning "crooked mouth" (from cam, crooked, and beul, mouth). It is associated with Clan Campbell, a powerful Highland clan whose chiefs held influence across western Scotland from the 15th century onward.

The name spread beyond Scotland with migration, and today Campbell is common as both a surname and a given name in the English-speaking world.
