Calciastabilized
Calciastabilized, sometimes written calcia-stabilized, describes a material whose crystal structure or phase is stabilized by calcium species, most commonly calcium oxide (CaO). The term is especially used in reference to calcium-stabilized zirconia (Ca-stabilized ZrO2), a doped zirconia system in which CaO helps retain a high-temperature tetragonal or cubic phase at room temperature.
In Ca-stabilized zirconia, calcium is introduced into the zirconia lattice, and a secondary calcium zirconate (CaZrO3)
Production typically involves mixing zirconia powders with calcium-containing additives, followed by calcination, milling, forming, and sintering
Applications of calciastabilized zirconia include advanced ceramics for structural components and coatings, and in dental materials
