Calafiore

Calafiore is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region of Calabria. It is situated in the Aspromonte mountain range, about 45 kilometers southwest of Catanzaro and about 25 kilometers southeast of Reggio Calabria. The municipality is part of the Aspromonte National Park.

The territory of Calafiore is characterized by steep, mountainous terrain covered with chestnut and beech woods. The town itself is perched on a hillside overlooking the Ionian Sea. The economy of Calafiore is primarily agricultural, with notable production of olives, grapes, and citrus fruits. Livestock farming, particularly sheep and goats, is also significant. Historically, the area has been inhabited since ancient times, with evidence of Greek settlements.
