CalDAGGEFs
CalDAGGEFs, short for Calcium and Diacylglycerol-regulated Guanine nucleotide Exchange Factors, are a family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors that activate small GTPases of the Ras superfamily in response to intracellular calcium and diacylglycerol signals. By promoting the exchange of GDP for GTP on their target GTPases, CalDAGGEFs link calcium and DAG signaling to downstream Ras-MAPK pathways, influencing numerous cellular responses.
Structurally, CalDAGGEFs are modular proteins that integrate calcium and lipid signaling cues. They typically contain EF-hand
Members of this family, often referred to as RasGRP proteins, include RasGRP1, RasGRP2, RasGRP3, and RasGRP4.
Functional roles and significance: CalDAGGEFs act as critical nodes that translate calcium spikes and DAG production
