CE marking indicates that a product conforms to applicable European Union (EU) harmonized standards and regulations, demonstrating its compliance with essential safety, health, and environmental protection requirements. For construction products, this means they have been assessed to meet specific performance criteria relevant to their intended use.

The CE mark is affixed by the manufacturer and signifies that the product's conformity has been assessed according to the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) (EU) No 305/2011. This regulation ensures that the essential characteristics of construction products are declared in a consistent manner, allowing for easier comparison and trade across the European Economic Area. Manufacturers are responsible for ensuring their products meet the requirements and for drawing up the Declaration of Performance (DoP), which details the product's characteristics and intended uses.

CPDmerkinnät are important for builders, specifiers, and authorities as they provide a reliable indication of a product's quality and safety. This allows for a more transparent and competitive market for construction products within the EU.
