CIPM

CIPM is an acronym with multiple meanings in different professional contexts. The most widely recognized is Certified Information Privacy Manager, a credential for privacy program leaders.

The Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) is awarded by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). It focuses on governance and operational aspects of a privacy program, including program development, privacy operations, incident response, risk management, vendor management, data lifecycle, and metrics and reporting. The certification process includes meeting eligibility criteria, studying the recommended materials, and passing a proctored exam. Recertification is maintained through continuing privacy education credits over the credential’s renewal period.

In the field of human resources and personnel management, CIPM refers to the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, a professional body active in Nigeria and other African countries. It oversees HR standards, professional development, and certification programs for practitioners, and confers membership and, in some jurisdictions, chartered recognition.
