CIMSS

The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies, commonly known as CIMSS, is a research and development institute located at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Founded in 1977, CIMSS focuses on advancing the understanding and use of satellite data for weather and climate research. Its primary mission is to bridge the gap between satellite technology and operational meteorological applications.

CIMSS researchers utilize data from a variety of Earth-observing satellites, including those operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
