Bystice

Bystice is a town and municipality in Veridia, a fictional country, located in the central lowlands of the Verdant Province. It sits along the Lyr River, about 40 kilometers northeast of the capital, and has a population of roughly 3,400. The surrounding landscape combines farmland, small woodlands, and a shallow lake called Lake Neth, used for recreation and fishing. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers.

Bystice traces its origins to the 12th century, developing around a seasonal market square. It received a town charter in 1385 and became a local hub for commerce and crafts. The town endured periods of hardship during regional conflicts but retained its role as a rural service center.

The local economy centers on agriculture—grain, dairy, and vineyards—along with small-scale manufacturing and services. In recent years, the municipality has supported renewable energy projects and tourism focused on the surrounding countryside.

Governance is provided by a mayor and a twelve-member municipal council elected for four-year terms. As of the 2022 census, the population stood at about 3,400, with most residents identifying as Veridian. The official language is Veridian, with minority speakers of regional dialects.

Culturally, Bystice hosts an annual harvest festival, a small museum, a library, and a community center. Education is served by one primary school and a combined secondary institution.
