Butia is a genus of palms in the family Arecaceae, native to southern South America, with species occurring in parts of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. The best known members include Butia capitata, commonly called the jelly palm or pindo palm, and Butia yatay, known as the yatay palm.
